e local. Meet Niamh & John. We are based in County Donegal, and we work with students, teachers, groups and organizations to plan and deliver fantastic visits in Ireland that include history, culture, fun, authenticity and a personal and friendly experience. We customize trips for families, clubs, and all kinds of groups. And if you don't have a group, we have several opportunities for you to join in with other people. You'll spend a lot of time in the North-West with us, which is truly the most beautiful, unspoiled and friendly part of Ireland, but you will see other parts of the country too. Ben Bulben is calling us for a ramble today, the forest walk around the base of this iconic and mythical place is ridiculously magical today, bursting with bluebells and brilliant gorse flowers, the sky is positively Mediterranean and the two doggies are in their element, teased by butterflies and bees, and enjoying all the smells of a sunny May Day. Sligo is stunning, get your boots on and explore!

You don’t need to be fluent.
This is about taking the time to listen, to notice, and to experience Ireland in a slightly different way.
If it sounds like something you’ve been meaning to do, get in touch - we’re always happy to chat.

Time for a doggie ramble, my friends- we are in County Sligo, at Dooney Rock, immortalized in Yeats’ ‘The Fiddler of Dooney’ - there is a beautiful trail here along Lough Gill, and the two lads were in the mood for posing, sorry for the number of dog pics but not really sorry 😁 nothing like a furry face to make a good walk magical!

This is home for us while we’re here.

Bundoran is a bit wild, full of sea air,
and the kind of place that grows on you quickly.

If you were here, we’d probably take you up to the Fairy Bridges first :)

Take Sliabh Liag.

In Irish, Sliabh means “mountain”, but Liag is where it gets interesting. It’s often understood as “stone” or “flagstone,” hinting at the raw, exposed rock that defines the cliffs.

So the name doesn’t try to romanticise the place - it simply tells the truth. A mountain of stone, rising sharply from the Atlantic.

And when you stand there, in the wind, watching the light shift across the cliff face, you realise… it hasn’t changed much since it was first named.

That’s the thing about the Irish language — it doesn’t describe Ireland from a distance. It comes from within it.

This November (13–21), we’re diving into an Irish language journey through Donegal, filled with meaningful experiences, cultural moments, and landscapes that begin to reveal their stories in a different light.

Because Irish isn’t something you figure out on paper first - you hear it, you feel it, and slowly, it begins to click. And once it does, you start to see just how honestly this place was named.

In Celtic tradition, spring wasn’t just a change in season - it was the land awakening.

Trees, flowers, and rivers weren’t simply part of the landscape, but living, sacred presences. Blossoms marked not just beauty, but renewal. A quiet beginning again.

It was believed that at this time of year, certain places - hills, wells, ancient stones -became more alive. More open. As if something just beneath the surface had started to stir.

This is the Ireland we try to share - not just places you see, but places you feel.

And sometimes, all it takes is slowing down long enough to notice
