Grand day out yesterday exploring Beginis with the Ballymac/Glenageenty Ramblers. Dry for the first half then misty and mysterious followed by a decent shower. Thanks to Brendan Curtin and Kerry Aqua Terra Tours for the very friendly and efficient ferry service. Would recommend them.

Two trees were planted today in memory of Hugh O Flaherty and the great work he did during the Second World War and beyond. An Arbutus tree because it is native of Killarney where the monsignor spent his youth and a Yew tree known as the tree of life was chosen to remember all those who were saved and sheltered by him during WW2. The dedication was lovely. "May these trees be a sign of life to all on Earth. May their leaves breath forth the life-breath of oxygen. May their branches be living space for those who climb among them and for the birds of the air that shall nest there. May those in need of of shelter from the summer heat find in their shade a refreshing refuge."
