St. George's Heritage & Visitor Centre St George's Heritage and Visitors Centre display documents spanning 150 years of history of Co Leitrim and tell the story of the Great Famine. St.

George’s Church, built in 1827, has been a place of
Church of Ireland worship for nearly 200 years. In 2005, the Church was restored and refurbished. The refurbishment of St. George’s Church included the building of a new heritage centre. Visitors
are welcome as part of the St. George’s Tour to view a video presentation. Leitrim –Enduring and Enchanting and the Seamus Geraghty Collection donated

to Carrick-on-Shannon including original papers belonging to the Clements Estate (Lord Leitrim). The Costello Chapel is one of Carrick on Shannon hidden Gems Built in the 1800's by Edward Costello as a Memorial and Burial Crypt for his wife Mary Josephine. It is reputedly the second smallest in the world measuring 16ft x 12ft

A Visit to Famine Work and Memorial Garden of remembrance a tranquil place with plaques, water features, and benches to sit and reflect on the poor souls who perished during the famine one of the worst periods in Irish History

Culture Night event at St Georges Heritage and Visitor Centre "The Leitrim Male Choir" are preforming for this special occasion in a free concert. Leitrim Men's Choir has performed on RTÉ's Nationwide and has sung for the Rose of Tralee contestants on two occasions, as well as giving local concerts, most recently at the Jamestown Heritage Festival in June. Special guest soloists who have sung with Leitrim Men's Choir include Eleanor Shanley, Edwina McNulty, and Cait Sammon Cullen. Celebrated annually since 2005, Culture Night comprises hundreds of events across Ireland and overseas. From the nation’s capital to county town, arts and cultural organisations open their doors until late (usually 5 pm to 11 pm) with hundreds of free events, tours, talks & performances for you, your family and friends to enjoy. National Culture night takes place on Friday 16th September 2016.
Carrick on Shannon Heritage Group are delighted to celebrate this event by having 'The County Leitrim Percy French Society' perform on the night. Under the direction of Tish Dunleavy, the Life of Percy French will be told in music, song, sketch & rhyme and will take place in St George’s Church, Carrick on Shannon commencing 8.30pm sharp!
This is guaranteed to be a wonderful night and has great significance for St. Georges Church as Percy French’s maternal Grandfather W.A. Percy was rector of St George’s Church from 1869 to 1886. Percy also had other very strong links with County Leitrim which will be revealed on the night so come along and support your heritage.

Leitrim Village Development 1916 Commemoration Tree Trail Program of events start on Saturday 25th June 2016 with a Presentation by Aengus Martin on the O'Rahilly Family at 8pm in St Joseph's centre. Music on the night by Mick Blake.

Sunday 26th June 2016 begins with Mass at St Joseph's Church at 10.15am celebrated by Bishop Francis Duffy. Followed by the planting of a tree by Dr Judy Ceannt in honour of Signatory Eamonn Ceannt.

2.30pm a Wreath laying cermony will be held in St Mary Cemetery Carrick on Shannon at the grave of Sgt John Rafferty. Led by the Garda Colour Party.

4pm O'Rourke Castle Wall:- The Canadian Ambassador Mr Kevin Vicker will plant a tree in honour of Leitrim Signatory Sean McDiarmada.
Grada Representive will unvail a plaque in honour of Garda Sgt John Rafferty and Garda Stg John Reid.

4.30pm:- St Joseph's Centre Reading of the Proclamation by member of the Defence Forces and unvailing of Proclamation Plaque, with music and light Refreshment.
