You’re Invited | Interpretive Board Unveiling
We are delighted to invite you to the unveiling of our new Interpretive Board this Sunday, May 3rd at 12 noon, at the Post Office building in Carrigaholt.
Funded through a successful grant application, this project is our way of giving something back to a community that has given us so much. We believe that when we invest in our place and our people, we all grow stronger together.
The board brings together five nuggets of key local interest, offering a snapshot of the rich heritage around us. Over the coming months, we will be sharing more in-depth stories on our website, building on what you will see here.
The unveiling will be followed by a very special archaeologist-led walk with Dr Conn Herriott of AMS, who brings over 20 years of experience in both underwater and terrestrial archaeology. His work has taken him across Ireland and around the world, including the UK, Portugal, Greece, the USA, Turkey, Australia, and Israel, so we are certainly in good hands.
This “field trip” will begin at 12:00 noon in the Square, taking in a route from the village to the castle, on to Kilcredaun Lighthouse, and back again. As our own club member and archaeologist Brigid puts it, the walk will take us “from prehistory right up to the present by exploring the archaeological heritage of Carrigaholt.” You’ll be back in time for the match and all! 💙💛
We would love you to join us for what promises to be an engaging and enjoyable afternoon of discovery.
A sincere thank you to Burren Beo Trust for their support in helping bring this project to life and in showcasing the place we are all so lucky to call home.
