Visit Castlebar Find out whats going on in Castlebar from festivals to events, we have it all! :D

Visit Castlebar is a voluntary organisation which is dedicated to boosting tourism by creating, hosting and helping others organise events in the town. We hope to attract everyone from locals, neighbours to visitors and holiday makers. The success of these events and in order to enhance the visitor experience, we depend on the local community to help us through volunteering, goodwill or simply supporting the events.

Martin O’Reilly used to come into McGoldrick’s every Friday.

Eventually, he came up and sang a song.

One song led to another and so much so that one of the highlights was Martin joining the band to play the hits of the day.

Oasis were number one!

It took two Gallagher brothers to do what Martin could do on his own and it was pure class!

Martin joins the band on the night to relive some of the ‘bucket hat’ fun songs of the 90s!

The night is in aid of The Brenda Grealis Fund.

Fantastic fun gig coming up on October Bank Holiday Sunday at Garbo's Venue, all in the name of charity.

There is a reunion of McGoldrick's taking place to help raise money for local musician Brenda Grealis. The bands that played there 30 years ago are coming out of retirement 'for one night only'!

Great memories, great craic, stories, talk of the phonebox and no mobile phones!!😂

Details being announced so watch this space and Garbo's socials!

🏐 BIG SCREEN FOR THE ALL-IRELAND FINAL! 💚❤️

Castlebar Chamber, in collaboration with members of Castlebar Municipal District, is delighted to bring a live outdoor screening of the Mayo v Kerry All-Ireland Final to the heart of Castlebar.

A huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes to make this happen, with Castlebar Chamber President Maria Staunton and the Chamber committee leading the initiative, alongside members of Castlebar Municipal District, and the generous support of local businesses.

Happy Bonfire's Night everyone.

Who remembers the days when every street, village, estate, and area had their own bonfire? Some had two!!

Collecting fuel for months and storing it safely so the neighbouring tribe would not steal it! Especially the tyres. The bigger the better. Tractor tyres were like gold dust.
No ozone worries then.

All the friends and neighbours gathered for chat, games, craic, grub.....and maybe even a sneaky tipple.

Island Walks in Clew Bay to Raise Funds for Cancer Charities

The 2026 Kathleen Conneely Memorial Island Walks will take place on Clare Island on Saturday, June 20th and Inishturk on Saturday, July 6th, raising funds for The Irish Cancer Society and Pancreatic Cancer Ireland.

Entry is by a donation of €50, or by raising a minimum of €50 in sponsorship per person. This includes return ferry travel from Roonagh Pier, as well as optional complimentary bus transfer from Castlebar and Westport.
