This photo of choppy water was captured on a July evening at Dunloughan Bay, Ballyconneely. Contrary to its appearance, this is one of Connemara’s surfing hotspots. A short distance to the left of this shot is a deep inlet that leads to a beautiful and wide sandy beach—a much safer finishing point for anyone riding the waves. On this evening, there were plenty of hardy surfers in the water doing just that. It appeared they were having great fun, but I was just as happy to be on dry land soaking up the scene before me.

"This shot was taken on the tidal island of Omey during the month of May, while the sea thrift was in full bloom. This annual spectacle covers the island with a carpet of pink. What made this shot particularly memorable was while I was fumbling around on all fours to get the right composition, there was a fox about ten metres to the right of me. This , we're reminiscing about our 2015 inaugural issue of Connemara Life! | "The photo was taken in early May of 2015 while I was walking my dog, Iggy, along Renvyle Beach. Photography wasn’t my primary reason for being out and about that day; however, the photographer in me is always prepared. ~Travelled up to Connemara this weekend for work. It was absolutely beautiful! All you could see around you was mountains and sheep 🐑 A nice break from essay writing to say the least.
