The Bog Road in Connemara is truly one of Ireland’s hidden gems. Winding through sweeping peatlands, framed by the 12 Bens Mountains and stone walls, it offers a breathtaking glimpse into the raw, untouched beauty of the west. The stillness, broken only by the call of a distant bird or the whisper of the wind, makes the journey feel timeless. Whether you're cycling, driving, or walking, the Bog Road is a peaceful and unforgettable way to experience the heart and soul of Connemara.

Stone Mad in Connemara
Out in the wilds of Connemara fair,
Where sheep outnumber folk by a pair,
You'll find a lad with windswept hair,
Talkin’ to rocks like he hasn’t a care.

He chats with boulders, flirts with a bog,
Says “good day” to a particularly charming log.
His best friend’s a wall that doesn’t talk back—
Though it gave him a wink down by the track.

Locals say, “Sure, he’s stone mad, that one!”
But he just grins and soaks up the sun.
“Better mad with the mountains,” says he with flair,
“Than sane and stuck in a traffic nightmare!”
