Today, on World Heritage Day, we celebrate our local cultural heritage.

Brú na Bóinne was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993. But it was already a jewel in the crown of Meath. Ireland’s richest archaeological landscape, situated within a bend in the River Boyne, Brú na Bóinne is known for the prehistoric passage tombs of Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth which were built around 3200BC.

This shows that there have been communities in Meath for thousands of years, and we’re proud to be part of that community today ❤️

Fun fact: A meeting room at our data center is named after Brú na Bóinne!

Such a joy to visit St. Michael's National School Trim last week for their STEAM Meath FIRST Lego League showcase! The students have been working so hard on this programme and had some incredible LEGO® and robotic builds to show us, not to mention all they've learned about the ocean through the SUBMERGED theme this year.

St. Michael's has been part of this fully-funded Meta supported programme for two years now, and it was great to be able to celebrate the passion for STEAM that their teachers have embedded in their students.

A huge thank you to Minister Helen Mc Entee for her time and engagement with all of the students on the day, to the school principal, teachers, parents and guardians, and to Creative HUT Ireland our partners on making this initiative happen for Meath.

Wow! Amazing work from all the teams that participated in the FIRST LEGO® League All-Ireland Final this past Saturday! Massive congratulations to all of the students who have worked so hard to get to the final, we are very proud of you!

👏 An extra huge congratulations to ‘Aqua-Robits‘ from Boyne Community School in Meath who brought home the ‘Robot Design’ award. This award recognises teams that present the best story of how they designed, built and programmed their robot and their robot game strategy.

The Meta Award for Empowering Communities was given to ‘The Water Babies’ from Tullamore College acknowledging their powerful focus on community in their innovation project.

‘Cully Coders’ from Donegal Cully Hall Committee were crowned overall All Ireland Champions for excellence in Core Values, Robot Design, Innovation Design and Robot Game.

Meta is proud to have supported the FIRST LEGO League Finals in Ireland! Congratulations to Creative HUT Ireland for delivering such a fantastic event.

Meta is proud to support Meath County Council to establish a Community STEAM Team Initiative. This project will be rolled out in 20 Co. Meath National Schools by the end of 2026 targeting over 5,000 participants.

This week we announced the pilot programme, which aims to bring together the whole school community of management, staff, parents, and children to work collaboratively to co-create a future model for fun and sustainable engagement with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths). This work builds on the model for parental involvement in STEAM developed by Our Kids Code , a research project based in Trinity College Dublin.

“This community-based model of connecting families, children and schools as one ‘STEAM Team’ creates a space for people to learn together, and to support one another as they learn. It has the potential to create lasting local impact and we are excited to see where it leads.” said Aoife Flynn from Meta.

In the week of International Women’s Day (IWD), we joined County Meath Chamber Local Enterprise Office Meath’s Meath Women in Business and Technology Network for a truly inspiring event.

Former European Commissioner Mairead McGuinness and RTE Producer/Director Kate Olohan, shared great insights on their work, their career journeys and what IWD means to them.

The Meath Women in Business & Technology network’s goal is to foster and empower women in County Meath to grow in enterprise, entrepreneurship or employment through sharing their experiences and connecting with their peers. Meta is proud to sponsor their work again in 2025.

“I have worked in the dynamic and fast-paced world of data centre operations for 18 years. I love working in innovative environments, and the data centre industry is constantly evolving, with new technologies and innovations emerging regularly. As a Facility Director, my team ensures the data centre campus operates at optimal levels, with minimal downtime or disruptions to service. I get to leverage my skills and experience to drive operational excellence, foster a culture of safety, and develop and work with a talented team of professionals.”

At Meta, we’re building innovative new ways to help people connect to each other – and we love to support community groups in doing the same! We recently partnered with Dunboyne Men's Shed, Slane and District Men's Shed , Kells Mens Shed, Ratoath Men's Shed, Athboy Men's Shed Trim Men's Shed to help build digital skills.

Men’s Shed aims to make it as easy as possible for any like-minded group of men in Ireland to set up, run and maintain a men’s shed.

Through the not-for-profit workshop participants acquired and shared new skills to improve their reach in their communities.

We’re committed to making a positive impact in our community! 😃

Happy International Scout Day! 🤩

Meta is proud to have awarded a 2024 Data Center Community Action Grant to the 1st Meath Dunboyne Scout Group to support the creation of a digital hub and archive for current and future generations of 1st Meath Dunboyne Scouts.

Scout’s Day celebrates the birthday and work of founder Lord Robert Baden Powell and his wife Olave Baden Powell who was World Chief Guide. It is celebrated by Scouts and Guides worldwide and recognises the contribution Scouts make to their communities.

Each of us learn in our own unique way, don’t we?

St. Patrick's Classical School was a 2024 Meta Data Center Community Action Grant Recipient – and we are so proud to support them! The school used the funding to create an inclusive learning space for all students, including those with additional educational needs, to better provide equal opportunities and accessibility at the school. ❤️

Part of their Meta grant has enabled the school to purchase reading pens supporting students to read unfamiliar words in class room assignments and exams.

We love seeing how this device is helping students decode complex words, making independent reading more successful and building confidence.
