Come and uncover the magic of Lorrha - the meeting point of three provinces: Munster, Connaught, and Leinster your unique Irish adventure awaits. 💚

Lorrha offers a variety of walking trails, many with historical and heritage significance and the village of Lorrha is a must for any history enthusiasts exploring the Lough Derg region.
Its ancient monastic sites include the remains of a 13th century Dominican Friary and a 12th century Augustinian Abbey.

The remains of two 8th century high crosses can also be found in the churchyard.

Within the Church of Ireland is a stunning two-light window, “The Holy Woman of the Tomb”, created in 1918 by the renowned Irish stained glass artist Michael Healy.

Those who choose to stay a little longer, will love the cosy cottage accommodation and the friendly locals who are happy to share the history, stories and hidden gems of the area.

Soak up the warm local hospitality in the Friar’s Tavern or stop by Kelly's Last Chance Bar, a welcoming pub in the heart of the beautiful village of Rathcabbin.

You'd be crazy not to call in for a drink and a chat!
And don’t leave without a visit to SCÉAL, the community shop, café and heritage centre. Run by volunteers, it is packed with beautiful products, including local handcrafted items.

☀️ This summer why not take a trip to the village of Holycross, located just 10 minutes from Thurles? Follow in the footsteps of ancient monks while exploring the magnificently restored Holycross Abbey, which was founded in 1168 by the King of Munster and now functions as the Parish Church. Afterwards take a stroll around the tranquil village, relax for a while in riverside park and enjoy a meal in Parker’s Restaurant or one of the local pubs.

Nearby Farney Castle is the only round tower in Ireland occupied as a family home. It is home to designer Cyril Cullen and his handmade knitwear and fine porcelains are available for purchase in the castle shop. For more local produce including food, arts and crafts, check out the Holycross Village Market ( ) which takes place on the last Saturday of each month from 12 noon to 3 pm.
