Cobh and Harbour Chamber, through a Joint Sustainability Council initiative with Mallow Chamber of Commerce, has launched a pilot Deposit Return Scheme in Cobh that invites a diverse range of local businesses and community groups to host designated recycling stations for bottles and cans, with proceeds being directed to three local charities - Cobh Tidy Towns, Fota Wildlife Park, and Friends of Cobh Hospital. This pilot project is made possible with the support of AIB, Cobh, which has sponsored the indoor collection bins. The initiative is to be extended to Mallow soon.

💧 A new water refill station has been installed at the Stephen Ireland Astroturf Pitch in Cobh.

🚰 An existing tap at the promenade in the town has also been upgraded in an effort to reduce single use plastics.

♻️ It’s part of the Cobh Green Hub Project, a collaboration with Cobh Tidy Towns, Cobh Zero Waste, Cobh Sustainable Communities, Cobh & Harbour Chamber and the Southern Region Waste Management Planning Office supported by Cork County Council.
