It’s been such a busy summer so far that I just didn’t get a chance to post about this wonderful project I’ve been working on earlier this year. Often very special projects like these take a while to come to fruition. I’m sure it could drive most people insane but the nature of this project, because it involved various processes, called for patience. I took lots of close-up photographs so I hope you can see the final product clearly. From a design point of view I was involved with the internal formatting of the book and the dust jacket design. The next stage of the process was sending it onto Barbara Hubert Hand Bookbindery. The very special thing about this book is that each one has been hand-bound, the cover linen bound in the best choice of mustard yellow with the spine embossed with light grey lettering.
When my hands eventually held the final product I was blown away. Truly a thing of beauty. A physical product of human craftsmanship. I’m dangerously close to a rant about AI…
It was only fitting to attend the official book launch at the most beautiful, independent Bantry Bookshop. We were treated to a reading from the book, which topped off a wonderful day out west. These projects don’t come around very often, so I’m all the more appreciative when they do.
