Reminder: All are welcome to attend as Dr Jason will be at Castletownbere Coast Guard Base on Dinish Island this evening Monday 26th May between 7 and 8p.m. There will be a short talk and demonstration of Emergency First Aid. This is particularly relevant given our remote location on the Beara Peninsula and a great opportunity to upskill and build confidence if you ever have to deal with an emergency situation in the future.

We never know when we will need these skills and this is a great opportunity to see first hand how Emergency medicine is practiced and what the first steps are which may help to save a life.

Many Thanks to Dr. Jason and his team for highlighting the challenges of Rural Safety and helping us to become more resilient.

The Bull Rock,Beara Peninsula in Co. Cork
lies 4km off Dursey Island and 9km from the mainland. It is situated on a major sea thoroughfare at the tip of the Beara Peninsula and the entrance to Kenmare River.
The rock (logically an island as people lived there) is 93m high and is roughly 228m by 164m. It is a small island true, but its steep cliffs give the lie to that seeming small scale.
Bull Rock is a natural phenomenon and is supposed to be the gateway to the underworld. In the time of the Milesians in the dim and dusty past it was known as Teach Duinn and was the site of a shipwreck with over 100 lives lost.
