Meet Imelda Mc Carthy who started her own business as a Travel Counsellor in 2017.

✈️What’s your dream destination/holiday?
Right now, my dream trip is Japan, which I’m actually lucky enough to be visiting this November. I cannot wait to experience the contrast of ultra-modern cities and tranquil temples, and of course the incredible food and culture that I know will inspire so many future trips for my clients.

💶How has becoming a Travel Counsellor changed your earning potential??
Becoming a Travel Counsellor has definitely increased my earning potential. I have far more control over my business and what I earn, and over time I’ve been able to grow my income steadily while building a loyal base of repeat and referral clients who really value my service.

☀️What does the flexibility of running your own travel business mean to you? For me, flexibility is everything. Even though my kids are 19 and 20 now, I still have the freedom to be there for them when they need me, whether that is a quick coffee, a lift, or just being around for a chat. I can work my hours around family life, yet still focus on growing a thriving business that I’m really proud of.

Meet Travel Counsellor Sinead Lonergan, who joined in 2015 via the Academy Programme.

🌎 What destination would you happily return to tomorrow? Easy , Alaska. I would happily return there in the morning . Its wild , unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful & the scenery is constantly changing .. and of course the incredible fresh Alaskan crab!

🛳️City break, beach holiday, cruise or adventure trip? Another easy one, a cruise without hesitation. I love going to sleep in one place and walking up somewhere completely new , a new view, new destination.

☀️What does the flexibility of running your own travel business mean to you?
It means I can work around both my clients and my family, which is something I value enormously. It allows me to drop and collect my daughter from school, while continuing to support my clients and grow my business. Over the past few years, it has also enabled me to care for two elderly relatives while running my business at a pace that worked for everyone. Sadly, I have since lost one of those relatives, but I’m incredibly grateful that my business gave me the flexibility to be there for her when it mattered most.
