How I Became A Wave is the solo project of Cork-based artist Pat Carey, formerly of the acclaimed indie band, The Hard Ground. Blending literary and natural world influences with lush strings and steel pedal guitars, the music of How I Became A Wave speaks to the soul through considered lyrics and quietly rousing melodies.

This is aggressively quiet music that by its very nature provides an antidote to the cacophony of today’s world.

I am honoured to be one of the many folk and traditional artists to perform at this special night in Cork City Hall on Wed 24th of June for Jimmy Crowley to help him through his medical emergency. Jimmy was very good to me when I was a young musician. I played acoustic and electric bass guitar with him for about 2 years and I got an amazing education in Cork songs and folklore, that you would not get in any university. Wishing you health and happiness Jimmy!
