Mark your calendars: on Monday, September 7, Liz Lev will be offering the first FREE web lecture of the year!
I'm Every Woman: A Brief History of Marian Imagery
No woman had been depicted more than the Virgin Mary, whose image graces homes, chapels, street corners, mountaintops, and catacombs. From the earliest age of Christian iconography, the most creative minds have thought about how depict the Mother of God, and, within the strict confines of theological accuracy, they have produced amazing varied results. In honor of the feast of the Birth of the Virgin on September 8, Liz Lev will take you on an adventurous tour of Marian imagery through the ages, and demonstrate how Mary, despite her singularity in human history, relates to rich and poor, learned and unlettered, active and contemplative. As we start our autumn web lectures, we invite you to Fall in love with Mary through beautiful art!
