🌿✨ Happy St. Brigid’s Day! ✨🌿
Today we celebrate the life and legacy of St. Brigid, one of Ireland’s patron saints. Born in the 5th century, Brigid was a visionary leader, known for her kindness, generosity, and deep connection to both faith and nature. She founded the first monastery in Kildare, and her influence spread far and wide, making her a symbol of strength, compassion, and sustainability
From weaving the sacred St. Brigid’s Cross to inspiring communities through her teachings, Brigid’s spirit continues to light the way today. May we all embody her dedication to kindness and balance with the earth. 🌍💚

Happy Pancake Tuesday! 🥞

Spring is finally in the air in Ireland and tomorrow is the official start of Lent – the 40 days leading to Easter Sunday. Historically, Lent was a period of fasting and prayer and so the day before families would eat pancakes as their last sweet treat before Easter.
Pancake Tuesday is still a fun day for the young and old alike when mid week dinners are abandoned for stacks for pancakes! 😍
What toppings do you like on yours? The traditional lemon and sugar? Nutella and banana? Berries and maple syrup?

This year we have teamed up with Joe Hayden and the gang to encourage you to spoil yourself this evening and have a Baileys Hot Chocolate with your pancakes! Joe and his beautiful cows – the Bailey’s Ladies are always busy at work producing the rich milk to make creamy Baileys. 🐄
Swipe right for hot chocolate inspiration ….
Go on, treat yourself! 😋

Happy St Valentine's Day to you and your loved ones!
Did you know St. Valentine's heart can be found in Dublin?!❤️

St Valentine, the patron saint of love (and beekeeping!) was a holy priest who was beheaded on February 14th around 270AD. His remains were made into relics, which was often the case with martyrs at the time.

In 1835, an Irish priest, John Spratt, was visiting Rome. Apparently, his fame as a preacher had gone before him, and priests of Rome flocked to hear him. Whilst in Rome, he received many gifts, and one of these tokens were the remains of Saint Valentine from Pope Gregory himself.

On November 10, 1836, the Reliquary containing the remains arrived in Dublin and were brought to Whitefriar Street Church where they were received by Archbishop Murray of Dublin.
Over the years, they were put in storage but rediscovered in the 1950s during a major renovation of the church.
A shrine was built to house the remains, and it is still visited by many every year who pray for love. 💘

Today is Imbolc, an ancient Celtic pagan festival celebrating the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. The festival celebrated the start of Spring and new beginnings.

It was also the feast day of Brigid, who was a Celtic Goddess before she was made a saint and adopted into the church in the 5th century.
Brigid was a powerful woman who was a patron of fertility, agriculture, poetry and music - creating and creativity.
Throughout time, Irish people traditionally made St Brigid's crosses at this time of year. These woven crosses made of rushes are used to protect against evil.

Let us celebrate the start of Spring 🌻

35 Years in business!

Today, Irish DMC Odyssey International is recognized as a major player in the provision of Destination Management services and has managed Incentive and Meeting Programs for some of the world's best known corporations. Just as our Company changed over thirty five years, naturally so has our staff; some have gone on to senior positions abroad, some have "retired" to family life and some have even started up their own Destination Management Companies! The principle however remains the same. At Odyssey, relationships matter! And the better we know you, then the better we can understand and relate to your needs and your challenges. Likewise, whereas our staff was once 100% Irish, we now have colleagues from all over the world, affectionately known as the "Foreign Office"! This fusion of cultures brings vibrancy and innovation, new ideas and new perspectives underpinned by the experience and expertise built up over thirty five years.
