With the final section of the family heritage trip, we continued from Glenveagh National Park across the valleys towards Ardara, Co Donegal for lunch in the Courthouse Restaurant, just over the bridge, for lunch. We followed along Glengesh Valley on route to the stunning - Sliabh Liag , one of the highest cliffs in Europe - and always remember - ♻️ - take your rubbish away .. - after taking in the views and the clear air, we continued towards Donegal town, the square, shopping in in Donegal, and dinner - the harbour restaurant and bar - the food here is always good … and back to Culdaff, for an evening stretch if the legs before finally leaving for the airport - just an amazing trip .visit.inishowen .ie

The family heritage trip took us into - Glenveagh National Park, Co Donegal, run by the National Parks and Wildlife Service - such a national gem … we visited Glenveagh castle ( ) - there are buses to transport you to the castle from the carpark - met with great and knowledgeable staff and viewed the beauty that surrounded us - very important - while we enjoy the beauty … let us leave it for others to enjoy too .. ♻️ .ie

We had another relaxing day … the family heritage trails are fun - so a chill day is always good - back to Moville for a lovely walk along Lough Foyle .. interestingly is the Moville Lighthouse, built in 1882, its type, more common in the ISA was designed by a blind engineer called Alexander Mitchel, from Dublin and later Belfast. We took a trip to Rathmullan, by the - a very fun way to travel - to see the Rathmullan Priory, originally built between 1508 and 1516 and presented to the Carmelites - who were forced to leave in the 17th century. It then became residence of the Protestant bishop of Raphowa d he converted it into a fortified dwelling.he used it as a private chapel before it was again used as a local chapel until the 1800’s. Late lunch was had in .beachcomberbar where the food was great and the staff wonderful. We made our way back by ferry again … an end to another great day. .visit.inishowen .ie

Our Family Heritage trip stayed local this day … and it was a supreme pleasure to be part of the family tracing their roots around the Culdaff area - our day started in Movile at the Cosy Cottage for food before following the family footsteps … to the homesteads of grandfather and grandmother , and to the graves of family members … truly an inspiring day .. we also visited the early Christian Carrowmore Crosses .. in the evening … I took a nice walk along Culdaff beach to ponder our life’s history … and to enjoy nature … even the rabbits came out to play … always remember to enjoy nature and - .visit.inishowen .ie

Onwards with our New York family heritage trip - we took the Greencastle to Magilligan - a great service with super views … on route to - The Giants Causeway - we had lunch in Bushmills (at the roundabout) and were well looked after by Megan and Aaron with some great food. We visited another National Trust location .. Dunluce Castle, the home of the McDonalds - and then had our view of the Open Golf Course - Portrush - Onwards to walk the mile walk on the Walls of the Maidem City - Derry/Londonderry - we visited the Guild Hall - where Patricia was amazing with information- a great location with stunning stained glass windows and much more. .ie

Continuing on the family heritage trip, we took just a short walk on a gravel path, suitable for all, to the Glenevin Waterfall. Make sure you keep an eye out for the mountain sheep … we continued onto the furthest point north - , next stop … there is a sign Eire to be seen, and these were situated along the coastline of .. as we were known then .. The Irish Free State .. until 1948 .. to warn pilots during WW2 of their location … afterwards we dropped into the bar farthest north - and their homely bar (important to get your merchandise to boast) … back out on my walk near Culdaff beach, I noticed a sign marking the emergency landing of a Seafire (naval version of a Spitfire) in 1949 … always something to see on a walk … .ie .visit.inishowen

Continuing on with our Donegal tour - we visited the amazing ring fort (rebuilt in the 1800’s on the footprint of the fort of Eoghan, son of Niall of the nine hostages, which had been destroyed by the king of Munster on the 1100’s) .. and onto - an amazing spot used for coastal defences overlooking Lough Swilly - Fort Dunree, Dun Fhraoigh in Irish means, “Fort of the Heather”… we let there and went to visit - a stunning location with history in depth… thanks to Pat and staff for a wonderful visit - .ie

A recent tour with a great family from New York … nothing like starting off with the ancient - wonderful staff and tour .. before seeing the monastic site of Monasterboice and onto Drogheda for the night. was visited to see the head (preserved as a relic for veneration) of St Oliver Plunkett, - as there was a celebration of his 400th birthday … before onto Culdaff, County Donegal. Always take time out to enjoy nature out there … .ie

Happy 4th of July to all of our clients and friends, and soon to be clients and friends
Did you know - that the White House, the house of the people was designed by an Irishman, James Hoban (from near Kilkenny). George Washington, having been impressed with some of his work in the Carolina’s asked him to put forward a design.
He replaced a French architect who was not following the required directions.
James continued his connection with the WhiteHouse by helping rebuild after the War of 1812

**le and Slea Head Drive is not complete without dropping into Aodhan and his father .. who look after the lambs (and make tea brack) .. they have a couple of Bee-Hive huts on site .. before onto the Blasket Centre (Ionad an Bhlascoid) which tells the story of - an absolute must for all - we had lunch at **lelinks - great food and and staff - before getting to Kilmalkedar Church / Cill Maoilchéadair - with its Ogham Marker and special sundial .. after we left Di**le after a great night - we headed towards for the customary kissing of the .. and sure it would have been wrong not to have some ice cream 🍦 😀- thanks to the for a great tour before onward to Kilkenny .ie

We stayed over in and were well looked after by the staff , using it as our base as we did our day trip to - where the staff are always amazing - and onto and the Scripture Crosse, Round Tower(s), the whispering arch … - the monastic settlement of St Ciaran. We then visited - in .ie - the oldest bar in .ie - and back to Galway. - when in Galway - you always need to visit Nial McNelis at (near the Spanish Arch) for your Claddagh rings - we then headed south towards .ie - but first - Leamenah Castle and the stories of the ghostly Red Maura (Marie Rua) - we had lunch - amazing staff, amazing food, wonderful golf course, before onto the Shannon Estuary with - and then to onroute to **le - getting amazing views of the Connor Pass and Di**le from@the viewing point .ie
