I know it's not a castle, but it's undeniably very English! I visited Snowshill Manor, in the Cotswolds, last Friday.

The gardens boast a dove-cote. Well worth a visit!

Calling castle lovers! I'm really excited that my just-released coffee table hardback has been chosen as 'Book of the Day' by English Historical Fiction Authors. Check out their review with excerpts! :) http://englishhistoryauthors.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/exploring-english-castles.html

I enjoyed your post immensely. Living in Canada and having never visited the British Isles, I suppose I have a rather romanticized version in my head of castles but to visit one in person is on my bucket list!
