Are you a good or bad egg?
I am writing this as I am totally disgusted about events that transpired last night in our great town of Skerries. A super community, known for its fantastic community spirit, and that s what I am hoping to tap into today.
Let me set the scene.
A super young lad, who I will keep anonymous, as he is a very proud guy who has had a very difficult time growing up, decided to make Skerries his home a number of years ago, supported by some fantastic locals. He has no family support unfortunately. He is well liked with some super mates, grounded, and has been working hard part time to save to go to college.
He is now in college, and had been saving for a number of years to be able to buy transport to get there (while also having to pay rent etc).
Last week he used this hard fought savings to buy a small motorbike, and just got it insured yesterday 3rd party only, as comprehensive was too expensive, and he simply didn't have the money.
He had the bike locked outside his house yesterday, and it was stolen by a bad egg or eggs. Now this wasn't stolen for parts and removed from the area, it was taken for a joyride, around Skerries and was then burned out very close to his home. See picture.
It is fair to say that this bike was the biggest purchase of this young mans life so far, and one that he worked really hard for and was proud of the achievement. Stolen away by probably kids for a bit of craic and then torched. Its ruined.
This chap has no idea this appeal is happening, has not asked for it, as he is so proud.
I am asking you, if this story touches you in any way, then please help his friends raise some funds to get him back on the road with another small bike and to get an immobiliser and a more expensive lock, so that this cannot happen again.
