🏈 **One crazy night at the Aviva!** 🇮🇪🇺🇸

When Andrew & Stacey joined our whiskey tour on Friday, we definitely didn’t expect them to be handing us tickets to see ** vs North Carolina** at the Aviva Stadium! 🙌

So Lara and I headed off for a night of college football, and WOW… what an atmosphere! 🏈🔥

We had cheerleaders, marching bands, huge hits, touchdowns and an incredible crowd. And because this is Dublin, we even spotted some familiar faces from the rugby world — including **Ian Madigan, Devin Toner and Scottish international Jim Hamilton**! 🏉

A massive thank you to Andrew & Stacey for the tickets and for giving us the excuse for one seriously brilliant night out! ❤️

🥃👃 It’s all about the aroma!

On the Flavour Trails tour, Lara and Trish learn that tasting whiskey starts long before you take a sip. They’re using a beautiful Túath glass to really open up the whiskey and capture those amazing aromas.

The shape of the Túath glass is designed to concentrate the whiskey’s aromas, helping you pick up all those little details — vanilla, spice, fruit, toasted oak and everything in between. ✨

And yes… there is a proper technique! Give it a gentle swirl, bring it to your nose and take your time. You might be surprised by just how much you can discover before the whiskey even reaches your lips.

But follow this flavour trail a little further, and it leads deep into Irish mythology…

Legend tells of the Salmon of Knowledge (Bradán Feasa), a magical salmon who gained all the world’s knowledge after eating the hazelnuts of wisdom that fell into the Well of Fec. The young hero Fionn mac Cumhaill was destined to receive that knowledge — and, in the story’s most famous twist, gained it by tasting the salmon’s skin.

So, as you enjoy your own Irish salmon, remember: this humble fish has a rather extraordinary place in Ireland’s imagination. ✨

The Jeanie Johnston, anchored on the River Liffey just outside EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, is more than a beautiful reminder of Ireland’s past — she tells a story that still shapes Irish food culture today. 🇮🇪🥔

During the Great Famine, millions of Irish people were devastated by the failure of the potato crop. For generations, the potato had been a cornerstone of the Irish diet, providing an affordable and filling source of food. When the crop failed, the consequences were catastrophic.

The Jeanie Johnston carried people fleeing famine, poverty and hunger across the Atlantic. Her story reminds us that Ireland’s food history isn’t just about what we ate — it’s also about migration, survival, loss and resilience.

The Famine changed Ireland’s relationship with food forever. It influenced how people farmed, what they ate, how food was preserved and, through emigration, how Irish food traditions travelled around the world.

Today, when we talk about the Irish food revolution, we’re also looking back at this history. From humble potatoes and traditional farmhouse produce to the incredible food being created by Irish producers and chefs today, our food culture has constantly evolved.

There’s a moment on our Flavour Trails when the penny drops… 😮🇮🇪

That moment when our guests realise that Irish food isn’t just about potatoes, stew and soda bread — there’s a whole **Irish food revolution** happening right under their noses.

From incredible farmhouse cheeses and artisan producers to fresh seafood, brilliant Irish meats, local craft products and chefs who are putting modern Irish food firmly on the map, Ireland’s food story is rich, surprising and constantly evolving.

And we absolutely LOVE watching the reaction. The raised eyebrows. The “I had no idea!” moments. The laughter. And, of course, the tasting! 😂
