Seán Treacy (Seán Ó Treasaigh) was born on the 14 February 1895 and was one of the leaders of the Third Tipperary Brigade of the Irish Volunteers during the War of Independence (1919-21)

He is recognised as having helped to ignite that phase of the conflict in January 1919 with his involvement in the Soloheadbeg Ambush which saw two RIC members shot dead as the Volunteers moved to size gelignite explosives;

Treacy was killed in October of the following year in a shootout with British forces in Talbot Street, Dublin.
