Did you know that during the famine, women left in equal numbers to men? This was unusual compared to other European countries where women weren't encouraged to emigrate alone. Young, single women contributed heavily to Irish emigration and there were many eighteen-year-olds travelling alone on board the Jeanie Johnston.

A High School student group from Katedralskole in Denmark at our Dublin Literary Walking Tour. We understand that the first Danish resistance group during World War II – Churchill-klubben – consisted of pupils from this school, the oldest in North Jutland.

Interesting fact, this photo was taken in Dublin Castle - where Bram Stoker and his father worked - and at the very yard where the British Empire handed over Dublin Castle to the newly-independent Irish State, marking the end of the British presence in Ireland.

We are feeling excited. Orson Welles infamous radio staging of Dracula will be reinterpreted as part of the Bram Stoker Festival this year. This is irreverent, trascendent, contemporary (audio) theatre at its best. Don’t miss it ! It will take place in St Anne’s Church, the actual church where Bram Stoker got married.

Tickets On Sale Now!
In Sounds of Wood on Muscle: A Modern Radio Dracula at Bram Stoker Festival 2019 some of Ireland’s funniest and most provocative theatre makers will reinterpret the radio recording of 'Dracula’, by Orson Welles and his celebrated Mercury Theatre repertory company from 1938.
The original production found themselves exploring how to create the sound of a wooden stake impaling a human heart.
This time the only problem is when things start to sound a bit too real….
Disconcerting, funny, contemporary theatre, tickets for 'Sounds of Wood on Muscle' are on sale now 🙀
