Cablecars and spectacular coastline scenery. Of course we did the tourist thing and spent some time on the #28 tram. But the coastline scenery of Cabo do Roca Peniche, and Nazare was amazing.

🍀 There’s more to Blarney than kissing the stone…

Ask most visitors about Blarney and they’ll tell you about the castle, the famous stone, and perhaps the very long queue to kiss it.

But honestly? Some of my favourite parts of Blarney are the places many visitors never get around to seeing.

Wander a little farther and you’ll find beautiful gardens, magnificent old trees, waterfalls, wildflowers and paths that seem to disappear into another world. There are sculptures tucked unexpectedly among the plants, the wonderfully atmospheric Rock Close, and quiet corners where it’s very easy to forget that one of Ireland’s most famous attractions is just a short walk away.

I’ve been to Blarney more than a dozen times, and I still find things I hadn’t noticed before.

That’s one of the things I love most about travelling in Ireland — sometimes the best part isn’t the place everyone came to see. It’s what you discover when you keep walking.
