IPB Insurance & Clare County Council Launch €100,000 Local Fund to Support ‘Communities Working Together for Climate’.

"LEAF" (Local Environmental Action Fund) is seeking to empower Tidy Towns and other voluntary community groups to take meaningful action to enhance their local environment through impactful, community-driven projects

💫 Sustainable Tuesday 💛💙

We are delighted to announce that the Inis Cealtra Visitor Experience at the Rectory in Mountshannon has been shortlisted for the Royal Institute of Architects Ireland(RIAI) Public Choice Awards 2026.

The project, which involved the restoration of The Old Rectory, Mountshannon, stands as a sustainable example of an adaptive reuse of an old historical building, emphasising the conservation of our built cultural heritage. It also represents an important dispersal of visitors to East Clare, encouraging people to explore more of Clare in a meaningful way.

A significant amount of hard work and dedication went into bringing this project to fruition, and it is a fantastic opportunity to promote and showcase Clare and the wider region to a national and international audience.

We would greatly appreciate your support by casting a vote for the project, titled “Squaring the Circle” by Mc Cullough Mulvin Architects. The projects are listed in alphabetical order so if you scroll down it is listed towards the end.

You can cast your vote here:
https://www.riai.ie/public-choice-award-poll/

🗓 Voting closes: 15th June
🏆 Awards announced: 18th June

✨ Planning a visit? The Inis Cealtra Visitor Experience is open for the 2026 season from April to late September, with complimentary admission this year. Boat trips to Holy Island operate seasonally with tickets priced at €20 for adults and €10 for children
