The Burren Slow Food Festival at Slow Food Clare is the first in Clare to adopt the MyWaste Circular Cups for Community Events initiative 👏💛💙

By switching to reusable cups, the festival reduced its single-use waste and associated litter.

This is a great example of how community events can lead the way in sustainability.

Clare and Tipperary Arts Offices Invite Community to Contribute to Upcoming Art Commissions 💛💙

Clare County Council’s Arts Office, in conjunction with Tipperary County Council’s Arts Office, is inviting the communities of the Killaloe and Ballina area to share their views on upcoming art commissions in the Killaloe and Ballina areas.

The drop-in consultation session will be held at the Killaloe Library from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday May 27, 2026. Representatives of both Arts Offices will be in attendance to meet with the public to discuss themes they may wish to propose for the art commissions. These themes will be used to shape the briefing documents made available to artists who may be interested in submitting proposals.

These commissions are associated with the works that took place as part of the recent Killaloe Bypass, Shannon Bridge Crossing and R494 Improvement Project.

For those unable to attend but have thoughts on suitable themes, please contact Rachel MacManus at [email protected] by June 5, 2026.

We are delighted to celebrate ’s 8 Blue Flag beaches and 5 Green Coast Award beaches this year – a fantastic achievement reflecting the county’s amazing beaches, excellent water quality and high environmental standards. 💛💙

In fact, 13 of Clare’s 14 identified bathing areas have achieved Blue Flag or Green Coast status. While Lahinch has lost its Blue Flag this year, the EPA has assigned it a water quality rating of “Good”.

Water quality ratings and results for all bathing areas can be viewed at https://www.beaches.ie/beaches-lakes/. It is advisable to check the most up-to-date water quality information before visiting any bathing area, including Blue Flag beaches.

Regular testing of water quality happens at the following identified coastal and inland bathing areas from 1st June to 15th September; Ballallia Lake, Ballycuggaran (Lough Derg), Bishop’s Quarter, Cappagh Pier, Carrigaholt Beach, Fanore, Kilkee, Lahinch, Mountshannon (Lough Derg), Quilty, Seafield, Spanish Point, White Strand Doonbeg, and White Strand Miltown Malbay.

You can check the latest water quality updates at www.beaches.ie
You can also view current water quality results on the bathing water information boards at each beach.

This monitoring programme provides up-to-date information for all bathing areas so everyone can continue to enjoy Clare’s beautiful beaches and lakes safely and with confidence.
