Caher Valley at Fanore 💛💙

Perched dramatically on the limestone pavement in the Caher Valley at Fanore, the layers on this glacial erratic mimick the clouds above it as a story of the Ice Age is told. Carried by retreating glaciers thousands of years ago, the massive boulder was deposited away from its place of origin, left balancing atop the weather-sculpted karst landscape that defines the Burren region.

💛💙 It’s time for our Clare Creative Spotlight Series, celebrating the vibrant creative spirit flourishing across County Clare!

🎨 This June and July, step into the quiet, evocative world of Silent Conversations, an exhibition by visual artist Ana Colomer, hosted by Clare Arts Office in collaboration with the Edna O’Brien Library and Mountshannon Arts Festival.

🖼️ Running from June 19 to July 17, 2025, at the Gallery in the Edna O’Brien Library, Scarriff, Silent Conversations showcases Ana’s recent works, inviting you to explore the subtle power of unspoken stories.

Originally from Spain and now based in County Clare, Ana brings a unique voice to portraiture, blending expressive storytelling with deep emotional insight. Trained at the University of Seville, her paintings focus on identity, connection, and introspection, capturing the delicate spaces between gesture and silence.

🌟 Ana’s work has been widely exhibited in Ireland and internationally, including the prestigious Zurich Portrait Prize at the National Gallery of Ireland, marking her as a distinct and compelling figure in contemporary art.

✨ Silent Conversations encourages viewers to engage with the nuanced language of human expression, the moments between words, the pauses that tell us as much as spoken dialogue.

As the founder of Irish Wildlife Sounds, Seán has embarked on a first-of-its-kind mission to record the sounds of every bird species in Ireland, creating an archive of Irish birdsong.

In this Dawn Chorus and Talk event, Seán will guide us through the magical world of birdsong at first light, sharing stories from the field, playing rare recordings, and deepening our appreciation for the sonic beauty of the natural world.

We are delighted to welcome Seán to explore the Irish Seed Savers Association site and will be offering tea and coffee alongside a book signing of Nature Boy after the walk and talk.
