Our "Anniversary of 1798 Summer School" returns to the National 1798 Rebellion Centre on Saturday the 20th of June 2026
Join us for a fascinating day of history, discussion, music, and poetry with our series of historical and cultural events.
Whether you're a lifelong history enthusiast or discovering the story of 1798 for the first time, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore the people, ideas, and legacy of 1798.

Explore Wolfe Tone's transformation from political reformer to revolutionary leader and discover the influences that shaped his vision for Ireland.
🕚 11:15am – What Can Women Give but Tears? The Role of Women in the 1798 Rebellion
Speaker: Jacqui Hynes
Discover the vital and often overlooked role women played during the Rebellion, from local communities to national movements.
🕛 12:15pm – The Destinies of Our Lives
Speaker: Howard Keeley
An exploration of unalienable rights, social happiness, and the revolutionary ideas that connected Ireland with wider eighteenth-century movements.

Walk the historic streets of Enniscorthy and uncover the stories, people, and events that shaped June 1798.
🕝 4:00pm "Balladry- The Oldest Form of Literature"
Presented by Niall Wall.
Traditional balladry is celebrated as one of the oldest forms of literature, serving for centuries as a vital oral archive for communal identity. Award-winning traditional singer and All-Ireland champion Niall Wall will present this talk on this enduring legacy which will include a section on the ballads of 1798. A few ballads will be sung.
