Oooh how much fun it was to see the Disney Dream ship today and to welcome guests ashore and give them a tour of some of the highlights of Cork!

I am just sad that I won’t get to hear it play its signature horn blast “When You Wish Upon a Star," when it leaves Cobh port.

Accessibility Tours Ireland support and luggage transfer vehicle ready for duty.

Photo taken this morning, when Bob transferred luggage from Dublin to Galway so no luggage had to travel in the wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Little things make a big difference!

Another successful shore excursion with About Ireland Taxi Tours!

This lovely group of 11 guests from the Carnival Legend last week spent the day exploring Cork City, Kinsale, Charles Fort, and more, experiencing the history, scenery, and hospitality that make County Cork so special.

A perfect group photo outside the Speckled Door with the infamous Bob who rarely goes out on tour, and their driver guide Billy, all sporting matching blue hats, was the ideal way to capture the day.

How do I find a good driver guide in Ireland?

A quick internet search will give you dozens of options—but that doesn't make the decision any easier.

Some driver guides specialize in couples. Others are a better fit for families, golf trips, or large groups. Vehicle size, travel style, and even the type of itinerary you're planning all play a role in finding the right match.

That's one of the reasons I work with a network of trusted driver guides throughout Ireland. Whether you're planning a getaway for two or coordinating a group of 30+, I can help connect you with a driver guide that fits your itinerary, group, and vacation goals.

If you're beginning your research, my article answers many of the common questions about hiring a driver guide. And if you're ready to explore pricing, you'll also find a quick request form to receive an estimate for your trip.

Just another day exploring Ireland, this time well away from the hotspots.

Cliffs, coastline, open countryside and a few horses along the way. And best of all, barely a person in sight.

There’s something pretty great about finding these quieter corners of Ireland and just stopping for a while. No crowds, no rushing, just enjoying the view.

A little visit to Birr Castle last week while I was enjoying some downtime with my family.

What a beautiful spot. The castle itself is impressive, but the gardens are probably my favourite part. There’s so much to see wandering around the grounds, and of course you can’t visit Birr without having a look at the Great Telescope, once the largest telescope in the world.

I was mostly there to enjoy the day with my family, but I couldn’t completely switch off my work brain and had a little look at the accessibility side of things! You should see the random stuff I dream about too 🙈

For wheelchair users, I’d say it’s worth knowing that there’s quite a lot of different gravel around the grounds, some of it loose and some quite thick, along with a number of steps in the gardens. The little train isn’t wheelchair accessible either.

That’s not to take away from what is a really beautiful place to visit, just useful information to have before you go, especially if accessibility is important for you.

And yes… apparently even on a weekend off I’m still checking out accessibility, castles and gardens, and most importantly, tea and cake! 😂

Bonus point: dogs are welcome and they have a kick*ss playground!
