A great treat that you can enjoy in all kinds of weather is taking a pony and trap from the Gap of Dunloe to Lord Brandon’s Cottage ….and remember it's not the weather, it's how your dressed that makes the difference ! The cottage was the hunting lodge for Lord Brandon and is located between the Head of the Gap of Dunloe and the juncture of the valley road in the Black Valley. A seven kilometer jaunt takes you through some of Ireland’s most rugged and unspoiled terrain to a setting that is just breathtaking. Approx. a seven kilometer journey from leaving the Gap to arriving at Lord Brandon’s cottage where refreshments are served. You can continue your journey from here further into the Black Valley. A cycling trip from Killarney National Park to the cottage is equally enjoyable or take a boat trip from the jetty behind the house across the Lakes back to Muckross.
