Known as The Great Skellig, Skellig Michael is the larger of the two Islands, with two peaks rising to over 230 m above sea level. With a 6th century Christian Monastery perched at 160 m above sea level on a ledge close to the top of the lower peak. Great Skellig is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If Skellig Michael isn’t already on your Ireland bucket list, it should be. 🇮🇪

This was genuinely one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had travelling around Ireland.

From the boat journey out across the Atlantic and passing Little Skellig, to climbing the ancient steps, exploring the monastery and seeing puffins wandering around completely unfazed by us, a Skellig Michael landing tour is such a special experience.

I travelled over with Michael Voyage and they were fantastic. Nealie was our skipper and Cornelia was our guide on the day, and they both made the experience even more memorable.

I booked our Skellig Michael tickets through on Valentia Island, which offers landing tours to the island.

If you’re planning a Ring of Kerry road trip, I’d absolutely put Skellig Michael on your list.
