Sorry to report that there is no availability left on Saturday 12th September as once again the Killary Lady is proud to be acting as a launch point for the Gaelforce Great Fjord Swim.

This is always a brilliant day out on the water, and we are delighted to support all the swimmers taking on the challenge. The swim covers distances ranging between 750m up to an incredible 8.0 kilometres through the fjord, and with water temperatures hovering around 14 degrees Celsius, it is every bit as tough as it is beautiful. The good news is that we still have limited availability for our 19:30 evening cruise on Saturday evening with the wonderful Sean Keane. Dare we say it but the mornings are a little crisper, the mist lingers a little longer on the water, and the mountains are starting to get their red shade that gave Killary Fjord its name, An Caoláire Rua, meaning 'the red fjord'.

As August gives way to September, we slip gently into autumn... our favourite time on the fjord.

This is also a prime time for wildlife spotting. As the seasons change, the fjord becomes a migration hotspot for birds, and the dramatic autumn skies make every view a masterpiece. It’s a quieter, more atmospheric time to experience the water.

We are still sailing daily at 10:30, 12:30 & 14:30 throughout September and October. Please note our 16:00 sailings end 31st August.

The golden days of August are calling.

There's something special about this time of year on Killary Fjord. The summer sun is mellowing, casting a softer, golden light over the mountains, and the wildlife is putting on its best show yet.

Our local dolphin pods are at their absolute peak right now, chasing shoals of mackerel right into the harbour. Keep your eyes peeled, at this time of year, we often spot them as far up as the shallow bay at Leenane Village!

We are currently in full swing and busier than ever, welcoming happy, excited explorers aboard the Connemara Lady. There is truly no better way to complete your holiday than with the wind in your hair and the Atlantic breeze on your face.

Something a bit different in the Killary Fjord yesterday!

We had the ILV Granuaile sail past, not your typical fishing or pleasure boat, that's for sure!

She's one of Irish Lights' modern workhorses, basically a floating support unit for all the lighthouses and navigation buoys around the coast. Her main job is keeping shipping lanes safe by servicing all those buoys you see bobbing about offshore.

She's nearly 80 metres long, carries a crew of 16, and even has a helicopter deck. Oh, and she's on standby for search & rescue too if needed. Quite some job description!

It's pretty cool seeing a ship like that in such a stunning setting! Why not join us for a cruise, every day is different on the Killary and you never know what you will come across next.

Paws for Adventure! 🐾 Discover Killary Fjord with Your Best Friend

They recently joined us for a cruise with their black Labrador, Gimli, and we're delighted to report that Gimli had a "pawsitively" fantastic time! We love welcoming four-legged guests aboard, so here is everything you need to know if you want to bring your furry first mate along for the journey:

Dogs are very welcome on our daily sailings. We simply ask that dogs stay on the outside decks and remain on a leash for the duration of the cruise. We provide fresh water, and the crew loves to hand out a few treats to make sure they feel just as special as our human guests.

We often get asked about accessibility on the Connemara Lady, so let's put your mind at ease. Unlike many boat trips that rely on ladders and narrow gangplanks, our boarding process is designed to be as stress-free as possible:

We pull directly onto the slipway. Access is via a gentle ramp (with a friendly crew member on hand to assist every step of the way).
You step straight into our panoramic café bar, no tricky stairs or tight squeezes.

Once onboard, you'll find clean restroom facilities, including a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Whether you are pushing a stroller, taking it easy, or simply want to enjoy the views without the hassle, a cruise through Ireland's only true fjord is an unmissable experience for all ages. Sit back, relax, and let the scenery do the talking!

What an incredible weekend it has been on the water! We are absolutely delighted to have been joined by a playful pod of dolphins, and there’s even more reason to celebrate, a new baby dolphin has been spotted among them!

Did you know that a baby dolphin (called a calf) stays with its mother for up to 3-6 years, learning everything from hunting to social skills? It's an amazing experience for children to witness this in person!

And speaking of children, now is the perfect time to bring the family along! 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎 𝐠𝐨 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 on board the Connemara Lady.
