A quiet weekend confession: half the reason people come back to Connemara is the food.

Hand-dived scallops, still tasting of the Atlantic. Connemara lamb that grazes on heather and salt grass, it is unlike any lamb you've eaten anywhere else. Smoked salmon from the Burren Smokehouse. Soda bread still warm. Killary mussels pulled from the fjord that morning.

After years of exploring every wild corner of this island, these are a few of the hidden gems I can't keep to myself any longer.
🔹 Bluebell woods in spring - that magical week or two when the forest floor turns into a sea of purple-blue and you'd swear you've wandered into a fairytale.
🔹 Lighthouses on remote islands - wind-whipped, weather-worn, and standing guard over some of the most dramatic coastline you'll ever lay eyes on.
🔹 Wild mushroom foraging - heading into the woods with a local expert, basket in hand, learning what's safe, what's a treasure, and what's been growing under our feet all along.
🔹 Puffins on the cliffs - these little Atlantic characters returning each summer to nest, and the very best spots to see them up close (without a crowd in sight).
