Castle 1 Meanus 1
Current league leaders Meanus were the lastest visitors to Kilbeerdy last tue night. A dominant first half showing from our lads failed to produce a deserved goal as chances went abegging most notably from G Gould,T Bowers and C Hanly.
The second half produced more of the same, a skillful game became scrappy. An A Moloney cross was glanced wide by T Bowers while Meanus were limited to a few half chances, which came to nothing. With 15 minutes remaining against the run of play we fell behind to an o.g. A good responce though, with M Cussens cross cleared off the line and A Ryan glancing header also cleared before crossing the line. The goal our play deserved came when man of the match M O Flaherty hit a screamer from 20 yards following a corner to give us a deserved share of the spoils.
Next game away to Aisling sat 5th sept, kickoff 6.15

Pallas 2 Castle 1
With the season only a week or so up and running we faced our fourth league game wed night away to title favourites Pallas.. Not the best of starts here as we were two down twenty minutes in,it must be said two very poor errors. However we fought our way back into the game, T Bowers having a goal disallowed and a few moves just breaking down near the Pallas area.
The introduction of Ray McMahon at half time changed the complexion of the game as we enjoyed more possession , resulting in the impressive Bowers being upended in the box and Colin Hanly scoring the penalty. With the game stretched our opponents were thwarted twice by Gary o Connell on breakaways, while we couldnt fatham a clear opening to level matters, despite several half chances towards full time.
Manager John o Connell will be delighted with the effort of the whole squad despite feeling we deserved a point from this game.

Castle Utd 1 Kilinane forest 0
Local derby time in Kilbreedy sunday morning and after a teak encounter we emerged with the three points. Both teams fielded considerably under strenght teams, but the sheer effort all the team put in could only be admired. An o.g. accounted for our goal as a shot following a free kick was deflected to the net. Some notable performances here with C Hanly and M Flaherty excellent in defence.P Lyons and T Bowers prominent in midfield and the tireless E Joyce up front. A fine team effort all round.

Prospect 5 Castle Utd 3
After the highs of our opening day win, wed evening saw the lows as we fell to defeat.A terrible start with the concession of four goals in the first half hour, three of which came from very poor defensive errors . Just before half time an Aidan Ryan free kick was finished by Mike Heelan to put some respect on the score line.
Strong words from mananger John o Connell saw improvement in the second half, a powerful Andrew Moloney header of Aidan Ryan corner reduced the defiat futher and as we pressed for a third we once again conceeded a poor goal.A futher goal or us finished well by Misha was in the end mere consolation

Castle UTD 2 Coonagh B 1
A winning start to the season for us with a hard earned victory over a very game and sporting Coonagh. With conditions perfect in Kilbreedy we propably just deserved our halftime lead,,courtesy of an Aidan Ryan corner which found the net .Coonagh levelled, a well worked goal it was,and we had Gary o Connell to thank for two fine saves after the restart..However we fought our way back into the game and from yet another Aidan Ryan corner the ball landed to Ray McMahon outside the box and his screamer found the top corner..
An injury to Pa Cleary meant we played the final fifteen minutes with ten men as all subs were used, but we held out despite some nervous moments to claim 3 points..
A good effort all round which will have pleased mananger John o Connell,, some fine performances with A Cronin,A Ryan and Ray McMahon to the fore in midfield, and Paddy Lyons outstanding in defence.. Our next match is on wed away to Prospect ,, Kick off 6.30
