Gougane Sunrise Walk

14th of August 4.30am

Starting at the church in Gougane we make our way to the Upper lakes where we take in the beautiful sunrise above Gougane itself. No words can describe the feeling of peace and serenity up there, while watching a new day being born.

This walk takes between 3.5-4 hours in total but the day definitely doesn't stop there!!!

Breakfast baps, tea and coffee will be ready for us outside the
when we come back down. A much needed energy boost, before we head over to for some kayaking on Lough Allua, the lake in Ballingeary.

Price for this unique experience is €80 pp. Group deals can be arranged. Limited spaces available so please DM me if you are interested.

Had such a lovely day out with great company. The weather was perfect and the dip in one of the lakes above Gougane was well needed. This is one of my favourite hikes and it felt strange to be starting this one during the day (usually our sunrise walk)🤣

Don't forget to check out our remaining walks and book in before the summer ends😉

Had a great time yesterday working with on these batboxes.

Our bat-walk last week really motivated us to do our part. If anyone would like one we can make them up for you. DM for prices and sizes. Bats are a protected species and we all can do our part to protect these amazing little creatures. There are so many benefits to encouraging bats to roost near your home and your garden. Here are a few of them-

1. Insect Control
Bats eat 3000+ insects per night. A great way to keep down those horrible midges.

2. Pollinate Plants
Bats are the original night-time pollinators. Bees handle the day shift, bats can actively help your garden grow in the evening.

3.Distribute Seeds
Bats also distribute seeds after eating. As the seeds are in their p**p and the flying mammals often p**p while in the air, the seeds end up in new areas. This helps spread plants to large, open areas that were once devoid of plant life.

4. Fertilizer
Guano, is an impressive source of fertilizer. With the absolute ideal ratio of nutrients for plant growth, many use guano in their gardens as often as possible.

Chaitheamar tráthnóna iontach ag foghlaim faoi Naomh Gobnait agus ár stair áitiúil. Eispéireas sealgaireachta iontach agus táim ag súil go mór leis na táirgí a bhlaiseadh amárach

Spent the afternoon learning all about St. Gobnait and our local history. Was lovely to spend time with such nice people and to finish it off showed us how to make elderflower cordial. Was very refreshing way to finish the evening. Looking forward to bringing others up there for tours over the summer.

Bhí lá iontach againn inné le comhluadar den chéad scoth. Bhí an-aimsir ann agus bhí na radharcanna dochreidte. Ag súil go mór le dul ar ais anseo le grúpa eile go sar i bhfad.

What an amazing hike we had yesterday. The weather and views were nearly as wonderful as the company. I can't wait to get back up there with another group sometime soon. We went up both paps and then to Shrone, before making our way back up along the lake to our starting point again.
