The role of NUIM Sustainable Travel & Traffic Management is:

To help NUI, Maynooth achieve it's vision of becoming a sustainable campus;
To assist in the implementation of measures that will support staff and students to choose a sustainable mode of transport to and from the site;
To steer activities in the desired direction and address any issues that may have arisen;
To help to organise events

and activities that will raise awareness of the facilities and policies that will support staff and students;
To promote the benefits of sustainable travel to staff and students;
To set tasks, priorities and work programmes for the Working Group members and provide/secure assistance as necessary;
To seek funding to ensure activities are progressed with;
To act as a forum for the 2-way communication between staff / students and senior management on the travel and transport issues;
To ensure that the work of the Sustainable Travel plan is co-ordinated with other activities of the organisation; and
To act as champions and lead by example.

Just to let you know that the works for the new car park located at the library have commenced this week and when completed will accommodate 160 spaces.

The National Transport Authority announced that its Journey Plan App, has seen close to 300,000 downloads (288,554) since its 2012 launch. The free App gives users instant access, on their smartphone or tablet, to timetable and map information for all licensed public transport providers across all of Ireland, with Real Time travel information for Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann services. Journey Plan is Ireland's only one-stop travel planning App, providing bespoke plans for trains, buses, trams, ferry, and taxi services across Ireland and combining them into easy-to-read journey plans. The App provides door-to-door route plans and has information about scheduled departures and trips near any current location and from any specified point.

Real time departure information for Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann services
All Ireland coverage including rural locations as well as cities such as Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford

Hi Guys,

I have €120 worth of lunch vouchers for the Phoenix Restaurant to give away, 2 x €60.
I'm sure you all have seen the banners at the entrances on the north campus promoting car sharing, well I'm looking for 2 more banners and this is were you come in. I looking for you to design new banners that will promote car sharing on campus just like the existing banners on campus at the moment. The winning entries will be printed and erected on campus.

Iontas car park now open as usual.

Hi Guys,
The Eolas Building will be officially opened this Monday by Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton TD and as a result, car park 5a ( back of Iontas) will be closed for the day. The two overflow car parks on the Moyglare road will be open for use.

Hi Guys
The Annual NTA Cycle Challenge for staff is upon us once more. It’s less than two weeks until the Challenge begins and you can register at www.cyclechallenge.ie The Challenge begins Monday, 11th of May!

What is the challenge all about?

It’s about getting on your bike and taking as many cycle trips as possible over the 3 weeks of the challenge. Remember it’s not distance but trips taken by bike that count.

There are lots of great prizes on offer this year for each member of the overall winning team at the top of the final leaderboard! Prizes include: Cycle Computers - Paniers –- Bike Bells – T-Shirts (subject to change)

The National Transport Authority (NTA) held their inaugural Smarter Travel Awards in Dublin yesterday. Awards were presented in 14 categories across different modes of transport.
Maynooth University were awarded 1st prize in the carshare campus of the year category. Well done and thank you to all involved and hopefully next year with your help we can take home more prizes in other categories also.
