A nice variety of fish going, including Mackerel, Po***ck, Ballan Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, launce, Ling, and a nice 6lb Cod.

The last three days were spent in Westport for the three day international angling competition.
Three different days were had on the water, and to be fair, challenging to say the least.
A great bunch of anglers, and some cracking fish caught over the few days on board the three boats.

On behalf of Clewbay Charters I thank all of those anglers that graced us with their company on board Mo Chara.

Go raibh maith agat, feicfidh mé arís thú.

It was too busy for photos, but we managed to boat Po***ck (loads of them around Timmy Dooley)
Mackerel, launce, whitting, Poutting, poor cod, Coalfish (pollachius Virens)
Cuckoo Wrasse and Ballan Wrasse.

A better day on the water today with conditions more favourable.
A great bunch of anglers from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.
The craic was good, and the fish played ball.
From what I can remember, we had Mackerel, Po***ck, launce, Whitting, Poor cod, Poutting, Red gurnard, Grey gurnard, Tub gurnard, Cuckoo Wrasse, Weaver fish, Dab, and dogfish.

A blustery start this morning with winds from the east as we headed for Clareisland.
A slow start, but jaysus it kicked off!
Po***ck, (pollachius pollachius) Po***ck and more Po***ck! An abundance of this fish in our waters, yet Timmy Dooley sees fit to side with the uneducated in Europe to introduce a bylaw where an angler can only bring home three, yes three of this particular fish.

The waters of the west coast of Ireland are being r***d by boats from the eu, yet the recreational angler ("according to scientific evidence") are the problem!

Farcical, to say the least!

Anyway, we had a great day on the water, plenty fish and good craic.

An early start today with the guys from Mullingar.
We battled our way to Clareisland as conditions were not favourable.
However, we got there and managed to boat a few species.
It took its toll on the crew, so we headed back for the reliable shelter of Clewbay.
Across the gunwale today were mackerel, Po***ck, Poutting, Coalfish, Cuckoo Wrasse, dogfish and thornback ray.

The evening trip was slightly different, two hours around the bay with Wood Nish and his family and friends to mark a mile stone 🎂
Good craic, and a dip in the not so warm waters of Clewbay for the lads was on the menu.
