Park Activities,

From Saturday the 19th until Sunday the 27th of April, there will be an all-day self-guided treasure hunt and an all-day self-guided 'our place in space" walk.
Drop into the Visitor Centre to pick up your clues for the treasure hunt and your self-guided Our Place in Space leaflet.

Daily Guided Events 19th - 27th

10am - 10.45 "The early bird" Join our guide on a trek around the Visitor Centre to identify the birds of the park.

11.30 - 1pm "Home Comforts": Join our guide on a tour around the different habitats at the Visitor Centre and learn about what makes a good habitat for our wildlife.

2pm - 4pm "A Walk In The Park" Join our guide on a 2km family-friendly walk along the nature trail at the Visitor Centre.

Sunday, 27th April, at 10am, "Hike In The Park"
Meeting at the Bothy car park in Letterkeen. Join our guide on the 12km Letterkeen Loop trail for a hike and talk about the rich history of the area and the restoration work that is ongoing in the national park.

May 3rd. All-day events at the Ballycroy Visitor Centre and at the nearby Ballycroy Community Centre as we celebrate Mayo Day in Ballycroy. A full list of events for Mayo Day will be posted next week.

Following two community dialogues in February in which the challenges that local people face in Mulranny were discussed this session will now discuss some of the potential solutions to these challenges. It is hoped these solutions can provide future social, economic and environmental benefits to you and our community.

Join us for our Community Conversations as part of the Mulranny People's Transition.

The People’s Transition is a participative decision-making model developed by TASC - Ireland’s Think-Tank for Action on Social Change - that views climate action as an enabler of local development. By bringing together climate justice, community development, and participatory democratic processes, we demonstrate how citizen engagement and cultural change processes are stronger, fairer, and more sustainable if they involve grassroots climate action.

Following two community dialogues in February in which we discussed the challenges that local people face in Mulranny and the wider electoral division of Newport West, this session will now discuss some of the potential solutions to these challenges. It is hoped these solutions can provide future social, economic and environmental benefits to you and your community.
This workshop is open to all community members, whether you attended the previous workshops or not!

🎶🥁 We are all Very proud of this mighty and Brillant Mulranny/Tiernaur Pipe Band and we are looking forward to seeing them leading the Mulranny St. Patrick’s Day Parade tomorrow following 11.30am Mass. SPRING EQUINOX PLANT WALK - WOODLAND

Join Wilderland for a plant walk to mark the Spring Equinox and welcome the arrival of the brighter half of the year.

This walk will be led by Sara Sheridan, Conservation Ranger at Wild Nephin National Park and will take place in Enniscoe Woods. Sara will talk about broadleaf woodlands and native trees, the diversity of plants and animals that can be found living there, and invasive species and their management. 

We will also be gathering plants for artist Clare Breen and Kasia Kaminska's year-long collaborative plant collection project Flower Féilire, to produce a large-scale cyanotype artwork and calendar of Mayo's indigenous plant life.

 
Seasonal foraged snacks and refreshments will be provided. 

 All welcome!

Mayo Dark Sky Park team members 💜🔭will celebrate Astronaut Dr. Norah Patten on a ‘Reach for the Stars’ ⭐ ✨ themed float 🪇 in Ballina, while we will learn about Norah’s journey to become Ireland’s first Astronaut 🚀 in Ballycroy.
