Skellig Shimmer

This is what it was all about. Making an image I had in my head for a long time, the recent fine weather has in most cases been too good for photography, but perfect for this.

The 3am start with little or no sleep before faded fast as we were idling on the water as the rising sun lit up Skellig Michael, my aim was to get as close to the surface of the big blue and capture the majestic rock in the early morning light. It was a truly amazing morning out at a very special place.

Trinity - Skellig Moonset 28th June 2018

First image from an epic trip out to this magical place this morning !

I hadn't intended to focus on the full moon setting on this trip out to this morning, after all I could hardly ever top Skellig Moon. But it was impossible to ignore, especially in these flat calm conditions.
The full setting between the two islands was my original idea all those years ago from land, but it never worked, so it was nice to finally get to photograph it from the sea !
