PORTUMNA OUTDOOR AND RECREATIONAL PARK...

Galway County Council is inviting the community to a public consultation event and online survey to help shape the future of Portumna’s swimming area as a vibrant outdoor recreation, community and tourism destination.
The proposed vision includes a water sports and recreation hub, improved walking and cycling connections, a strong focus on biodiversity and sustainability, and the development of a high-quality public park promoting health, wellbeing and community engagement.
The in-person consultation will take place at Portumna Courthouse on Clonfert Avenue on September 21st and 22nd from 11am to 2pm.

As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement, Uisce Éireann is continuing to host drop-in information clinics for the proposed Water Supply Project Eastern and Midlands Region.

We encourage anyone interested in the proposed project to attend these sessions. These informal information clinics provide an opportunity to meet our dedicated Community Liaison Officer, learn more about the Water Supply Project, including the opportunities presented by this major project, the potential day-to-day impact of construction, and how stakeholders can stay informed and involved as the project progresses through the statutory consents process.

festival weekend is upon us! 🎉🎉

We'll be kicking things off on Thursday with the Festival Book Club at 11am at Portumna Public Library. Join in the discussion or just come and get some book recommendations. Complimentary tea/coffee and sweet treats, plus spot prizes.

Then we're back in the library at 3.45pm for the presentation of the Barbara Kennedy Writing Awards 2026, celebrating the shortlisted pupils from local primary schools who entered the 2026 writing project on the theme of Small Spaces.

At 8pm you'll find us in Portumna Town Hall enjoying the musical repertoire of the Roscommon Men's Choir. Come and join us for everything from Rock & Pop to Irish Ballads from the 60s to present day. There will also be a special guest appearance from our very own Omna Singers.
