We had a very interesting visit from some residents of the French village of Nueil-sur-Layon during the week.

Nueil-sur-Layon was the village where Castleplunkett born Roderic O'Conor, the famous Impressionist painter, lived in his later years, until his death in 1940.

Alex and Valerie came to County Roscommon to discover more about Roderic O'Conor and visited Castleplunkett, Roderic's birthplace, and Tulsk, where the Tulsk History Society recently unveiled a commemorative plaque to the artist.

Thanks to Magnumlady's Blog, Ireland for the mention. We appreciate the positive comments.

Delighted to be invited to the launch of β€˜The Forgotten Cemetery: excavations at Ranelagh Co. Roscommon’ in Abbey Hotel Roscommon last night. A great read, the book is a lavishly illustrated report on life and death for over 1000 years, from the fourth century onwards. Available to purchase from Rathcroghan Visitor Centre and Wordwell Books.
