One of the most extraordinary visitor experiences ever to arrive in County Sligo is coming next summer.

From 30 June to 13 July 2026, the spectacular Galeón Andalucía, the world’s largest replica Spanish galleon, will visit Sligo Harbour, bringing centuries of maritime history dramatically to life along our coastline.

Many visitors to Sligo may not realise the county has such a deep connection to the story of the Spanish Armada. Before entering the harbour, the ship will pause offshore at Streedagh Beach, where three Armada ships were lost in 1588. It is one of the most fascinating and moving chapters in Sligo’s history.

Guests visiting Sligo during this time will have the opportunity to step aboard the ship and explore its decks and cabins while discovering the incredible maritime heritage of Ireland’s north west.
