Donegal East Tourism

Donegal East Tourism Established in 2017, we aim to promote east Donegal to both locals and visitors, providing info on activities, accommodation, attractions and much more.

Donegal East Tourism was established in March, 2017, to promote the east of the county as a tourist destination for visitors and locals alike. It is our aim to promote an area from Fintown - down the Finn and Lagan valleys, as far as Burt. Since our first meeting on March 15th, we have made considerable progress. A formal committee has been set up, new logos designed, an information map/booklet is

being compiled and a website is currently under construction. In addition, space has been booked on the Donegal Tourism stand at the upcoming Holiday World fairs in Dublin and Belfast in January, 2018. A number of other projects are also in the pipeline. We would argue that, in terms or tourism promotion, this part of the county has been ignored for far too long. This is despite it being home to one of Europe's best salmon fishing rivers, the Finn, the Glenfin Gaeltacht, Bluestack Montains, McElhinney's Stores, Oakfield Park, Beltany Stone Circle, Lifford Old Courthouse and An Grianan of Aileach. The region also has a strong tradition of Irish music, an Ulster Scots heritage and much, much more.

Our beautiful Villa Rose Hotel is 20 today!! Well done to the team and all the staff for hosting so many memories over the years. We look forward to when the doors are open again. 🥰

𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝘽𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙙𝙖𝙮… Our 20th Birthday to be precise 🎈

Although this isn’t the way we thought we’d be celebrating 20 years in business, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge everyone who has travelled the journey with us helping us to reach this wonderful milestone.

Firstly, we would like to thank our customers for supporting us. Every 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒚 and 𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒍 booked, every 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 and 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 celebrated, every 𝑺𝒑𝒂 𝑫𝒂𝒚 indulged and every 𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒓 has contributed to building our business.

Secondly, we’d like to thank our loyal staff, both past and present who have played a part in making the Villa Rose experience what it is today. If you have ever worked with us or are currently part of Team Villa Rose we thank you.

Finally, we want to acknowledge our fellow businesses in the Finn Valley and our Tourism partners in County Donegal. Over the past 20 years there have been good days and bad days with some fantastic highs and we are hopeful that there are brighter days ahead for us all.

We look forward to the day we can open the doors and welcome both our regulars and new guests alike.
