🕰️ Step Back in Time at Cormackstown Heritage Centre

Located near Holycross, just a short drive from Thurles, Cormackstown Heritage Centre is home to one of Ireland’s largest private collections of rural memorabilia.

With fascinating artefacts spanning three centuries, visitors can explore displays recreating the everyday life and traditional trades of rural Ireland—including:

🛠️ A blacksmith’s forge and traditional workshop tools
🏫 An old-style schoolroom
🛒 A traditional shop
🍺 A recreated Irish pub
🔥 A farmhouse kitchen
🥛 An extensive dairy and creamery collection
🚲 Tools and equipment used by carpenters, cobblers, wheelwrights and tinsmiths

Each object has its own story, offering younger visitors a fascinating glimpse into the past while bringing back many memories for older generations.

🥾 Explore the Upperchurch Walking Trails

Set among the rolling hills of North Tipperary, Upperchurch is a wonderful destination for walkers, with scenic looped trails passing through farmland, forest tracks, quiet country lanes and unspoilt countryside.

One of the best-known routes is the Eamonn a Chnoic Loop, named after the legendary “Ned of the Hill”—a Robin Hood–like figure associated with the area’s folklore. This moderate loop is approximately 7.6km and offers tremendous views towards the Comeraghs, Knockmealdowns, Galtees, Slievenamon and the Devil’s Bit.

Other local routes include the Birchhill and Knockalough loops, giving walkers a choice of landscapes, distances and challenges.

🌦️ Come prepared for changing weather
🐑 Respect farmland, livestock and local residents
🐕 Check the guidance for your chosen trail, as dogs are not permitted on routes crossing private farmland

Looking for somewhere interesting to visit this summer?

Why not pay a visit to Lar na Pairce GAA museum!!

Located at Slievenamon road, Thurles, Co.Tipperary

The first museum of it's kind in Ireland dedicated to telling the story of Gaelic Games.

It first opened it's doors to the public on November 8th 1994

Within its walls visitors will find a variety of exhibitions that explore the rich history and culture of hurling, Gaelic football, handball and camogie.

The museum also features displays on hurley making, sports broadcasting and the renowned Sam Melbourne collection of GAA memorabilia.
