Do you have a story connected to the Transatlantic Cable Station on Valentia island? 📞🌊📷

Folklorist Michael Fortune from folklore.ie is coming to Valentia this June to collect the stories, memories, photographs and local lore surrounding the famous Transatlantic Cable that linked Kerry to Newfoundland in the 1850s.

From family tales passed down through generations to old photographs and forgotten memories — every story matters, and this is a chance to help preserve a unique part of Valentia’s history.

Michael will be on the island on June 10th, 11th & 12th and would love to meet anyone with something to share. Get in touch directly:
