1. Eustress: This is the "positive" form of stress. It happens when you face a challenge that you find exhilarating, fun, or highly motivating, such as racing to reach a goal or preparing for an exciting event.
2. Acute Stress: This is a short-term, everyday type of stress. It is an immediate response to a sudden challenge or threat (like slamming on your car brakes or missing a deadline), but it subsides quickly once the situation is resolved.
3. Episodic Acute Stress: This occurs when someone frequently experiences episodes of acute stress. People with this type of stress constantly feel rushed, overwhelmed, and like they are jumping from one mini-crisis to the next.
4. Chronic Stress: This is prolonged, long-term stress that persists over an extended period. Stemming from ongoing difficulties like financial worries, an unhappy relationship, or a demanding job, it is the most physically and mentally damaging type.
Not all stress is bad! Understanding the type of stress you're dealing with from everyday hurdles to long-term pressureis the first step toward better balance.
