A hugely successful ISKGA Expedition Skills course run over the recent Bank Holiday weekend. We were lucky to have Lee .kayakadventures on board to share his expertise and life long knowledge with the group. We covered all aspects of expedition paddling and put our skills to the test while on the move in Roaringwater Bay, West Cork.
Subjects such as group protection, foraging, fire lighting skills, water sourcing, tarps and camp craft were taught and practiced over the weekend.
Thanks Lee and everyone who attended. Looking forward to the next one.

We are kicking off 2025 with an ISKGA Expedition Skills Module run as a multi-day paddling trip in the beautiful Roaringwater Bay, West Cork. This unique opportunity allows for learning and development for individuals or aspirant guides to gain experience over a number of days in one of Ireland's best paddling locations. Over the weekend we will cover a number of subjects and enhance skills to help you become an effective expedition team member.

We are very happy to have Advanced ISKGA Guide Lee Waters from .kayakadventures on board to teach this module, his knowledge and experience in this field is second to none.
Lee, a former Royal Marines Mountain Leader, is now deeply entrenched in water sports with a background in white water and marathon racing. Notable feats include completing the Devizes to Westminster race four times. Twice alongside a triple amputee veteran raising money for his charity, which advocates paddle sports in the military and leading expeditions for veterans in folding kayaks.
Lee has guided expeditions in Norway, France, Cyprus, Turkey and the UK and along with being an advanced ISKGA guide, Lee holds BC Advanced Sea Kayak Leader qualifications, with expertise in expedition skills and sea survival. An outdoor enthusiast Lee promotes leave no trace principles and offers unique fire lighting and culinary experiences from his kayak.

It's that time again when the hand line is never left at home. I went out early this morning to check conditions and the sea was quite lively, hay was being baled on the headland and berries are getting plump on the ditches.
Autumn is a wonderful time of year and propably my favourite season to paddle in. The change in energy that comes with it is magic.
