As part of Heritage Week 2026 and this year’s theme “Heritage at Risk”, a talk on the history of Duncannon Fort will take place on Friday, 21 August at 4pm in the community hall within the fort grounds.

The talk will explore the fort’s development, its role in coastal defence, and the importance of safeguarding historic sites. All are welcome.

🌊Demonstration of Fishing Net Roping Skills🌊

Showcasing the traditional crafts of drift-net fishing, local fishermen will demonstrate basic net-roping skills and invite active participation by members of the public.

The demonstration will take place in the old Rec Hall in the fort which has recently been refurbished by Wexford Co. Council for community use. Free public access.

The Fishing New Roping Demonstration is part of a joint initiative for Heritage Week 2026 by Waterford Estuary Villages Alliance (WEVA).
