What I particularly like about Club Med for skiing is how much of the practical side is already sorted. Lift passes, lessons and dining are built into the stay, while families also have dedicated Kids’ Club spaces for different age groups.

Serre Chevalier sits at the gateway to the Écrins and Queyras natural parks, giving you a beautiful Alpine setting and plenty to enjoy back at the resort after a day on the slopes.

A room that sleeps five isn’t always a room that works for five.

I have a family of five myself, so I know how much the practical details matter. Is there a separate bedroom? Is the fifth bed suitable for an older child? And where will everyone’s suitcases go?

These are the things I look at when planning a family holiday, beyond the hotel photographs and the words “family room”.

Planning a holiday doesn’t have to start with a destination.

Sometimes you know exactly where you want to go. Sometimes you only know that you need a break, want somewhere that works well for the family, or have a bigger trip in mind and aren’t quite sure how to bring it together.

That’s where I come in.

When you book through Altura Travel, I look at the whole trip, not simply the first hotel or price that appears. Flights, location, room type, baggage, transfers and the little details that can make a real difference are all part of finding the right fit.

I came home from Dublin today with lots of new travel ideas and an even longer list of places I would love to experience for myself.

I spent the day at the InteleTravel Partner Networking Event in The Gresham, meeting some of the Irish teams behind Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises and Silversea, along with Visit Orlando, Club Med, Travel Department and Abercrombie & Kent.

We talked new ships, family holidays, escorted tours, luxury journeys and what’s coming next. It was a chance to look beyond the brochures, ask plenty of questions and hear about some really special travel experiences.

There is always more to discover in this industry, and I left feeling genuinely inspired by the possibilities I can share with my clients.

Now to put all those new ideas to good use.
