The synagogue in Capernaum is special. It’s probably in the same place where Jesus taught. It’s built of lime stone instead of the basalt stone which is plentiful in the area. And..

It was built in a time Jews were forbidden from building synagogues, AND it coexisted with a Byzantine a few meter south of it!
