Finjan - Alternative Travel & Trekking in Israel

Finjan - Alternative Travel & Trekking in Israel Finjan is an Israeli trek, travel and adventure company focusing on alternative travel, personal enc The name behind it all:
So, why the name Finjan?

Trek, travel…taste – it’s time for Finjan to give you Israel Unfiltered. We are just two guys, both Licensed Tour Guides and Outdoor Specialists, who are here to make you experience Israel like an Israeli. From the deep canyons in Israel’s deserts to the country’s snow-capped northern peaks, Finjan will expose you to all sides of Israel while your senses do the rest. Let’s just say, we are here to

make your life on social media look like the greatest adventure you or your friends have ever had. Well, we believe that pure travel bliss can only be fully achieved by drinking your fair share of coffee throughout the journey. Wherever we are, the Finjan is always by our side – ready to brew the finest grounds. Ah but wait, we still didn’t say what a Finjan is. The Finjan is the vassal we use to prepare our coffee. All across the Middle East, you will see this variation on a theme. So as we say, without the Finjan, there is no coffee, and without the coffee – there is no trek! There’s an old Bedouin proverb that goes like this: Coffee must be as dark as the night, sweet as a woman, strong like a man…and bitter like marriage. Now its our time to take you to the places your guidebook won’t!

Our first ever off- trail multi day hike!
The Marzaba area of the Negev is a remote piece of desert, without any historical accounts, or marked trails, it is a land of incredible beauty, forgotten springs and pools, and ancient and nameless trails
For more than a decade we were exploring this area, uncovering its many secrets.
For the first time ever we will share this land with our hikers
We will be accompanied by a Bedouin logistics team, building a camp to return to each evening, allowing us to hike with minimal weight on our backs.
Are you ready to hike the nameless desert?

Exciting desert day hike on Friday December 20th:
A mighty canyon & a seemingly impossible trail!

On this hike we will traverse the mighty canyon of Hatira, descending down from the Yamin waterholes via the ancient Yamin ascent explore the deep canyon of Hatira and climb up using the legendary Palmach ascent using series of ladders, hand rails, and cables this part of the canyon was considered impassable before the 1944 journey of the Palmach, known from then on as Naqb el Yahood (the trail of the Jews), from there we will hike to Ein Yorke’am pools, and depending on our time may climb steeply to the Big Fin on the crest of the large crater, finally descending to the colored sandstone rocks of the large crater.

The trail requires climbing using ladders, hand rails and cabels, walking on the edge of a cliff and is not suitable for people with height vertigo.

It is so hard to imagine a full year has passed since our last new year sunrise hike..

This year we are trying something a bit different: our annual new year trip will be an overnight.
We will leave our pick up points in Rehovot and Tel Aviv on Thursday evening (26th) camping in an amazing location above the valley of Bet Shean and the Jordan valley.
We will watch the sun rise above the mountains of Gilead and wish for a new better year 🙏🏼
After loading the bus with our gear we will head down to the classic trails of the valley of springs, hiking, swimming and just relaxing in some of the most beautiful springs Israel has to offer, returning on Friday noon (27th)

The hike is easy and relaxed this time, and suitable for anyone in decent shape.

Trip cost: 320nis (290 early sale)

There's no use, and no need to sugarcoat it, this has definitely been the darkest, most difficult and devastating year we've ever experienced, trying to live through a reality that could only be imagined by the worst humanity has to offer.

In midst of these hard times, we tried our best to continue, believing that what is true in normal times, can be even more important when times are hard.
We believe that being in nature, feeling the desert wind, resting in the shade of the forest, can help us heal our scars, hiking with friends, and meeting with the good people who lives in this land, can help us not feeling alone and powerless.
We are extremely thankful for everyone hiking with us this year, each and every one of you made a difference, and helped us to keep our head above the raging water. We can only hope these moments were as meaningful for you, as they were for us.
Our plan for this coming year is to continue.
As long as we can, as long as you will come exploring with us.

On the end of the month (Sep 26th) we plan to go our traditional sunrise hike, trying to imagine a new better year.
On the end of Sukkot we will go on our traditional multi days trek in the Negev, hopefully, picking off the trail, in the exact point where we left it last year, on our hike on October the 7th (TBD)
We are looking forward meeting you this season.
Thank you for everything,
Ariel & Steve.
