Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year Holiday. Jewish faith says that it is the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, and a day of judgment and coronation of God as king.
The central observance of Rosh Hashanah is hearing the sounding of the shofar (the ram’s horn).
It is a very family holiday, celebrated mainly with lots of food. We eat a lot of sweet dishes expressing our wish for a sweet year. We wish each other "Shana Tova" (a good year).
The date of the holiday is determined by the Hebrew calendar, and this year we will celebrate it from Sunday, September 29, until Tuesday, October 1.
Shana Tova!
