Imagine for a moment, walking the maze of streets in the Old City of Jerusalem. You pass bustling market stalls as the cobbled street of the Via Dolorosa leads you around one corner, then another. After a few moments, the street opens up into a small courtyard. The sun warms your face as you take in the stone buildings, and you realize you are standing in front of The Church of the Holy Sepulcher — one of the most holy places in the Christian faith. Housed under the dark blue domes of this ancient church, built in 326 AD, is where many Christians and scholars believe is the exact location of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial, and resurrection.
As you step through the large wooden doors, your eyes adjust to the candlelit, reverent atmosphere filling the church. To your right, narrow steps lead up to the site where Jesus died on the cross. To your left, the Aedicule, an ornate shrine, houses the tomb where Jesus was buried and resurrected. You make your way through the church as Jesus' followers have done for more than 1,700 years. You’re standing in the place of history — history that changed the world and all eternity. History that changed your life. There is a sense of awe, reverence, and perhaps even questions as you take it all in. There’s nowhere on earth like the Holy Land, where history and faith bring the Scripture to life. Come and see for yourself…
